The News Skunkworks
The folks at the Ifra Newsplex in South Carolina have created a news 'skunkworks' — "a project intended to challenge conventional thinking." They have come up with a 'prototype multiple-media micro-newsroom for demonstration, research and training in next-generation newshandling tools and techniques.' It was created to exercise the future of news, to show the possibilities. There's much of interest at this site, including a video that illustrates what is possible these days with multimedia news gathering. There are also architectural drawings and video walk-throughs of a prototype Newsplex.
