World Press Freedom Day
Happy World
Press Freedom Day! In case you didn't see the sign
at Hallmark, it's on May 3, and it was proclaimed ten
years ago by the United Nations. As UNESCO's
site proclaims, "Every year, May 3rd is a date
which celebrates the fundamental principles of press
freedom; to evaluate press freedom around the world,
to defend the media from attacks on their independence
and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their
lives in the exercise of their profession." Visit
the International Freedom
of Expression Exchange (IFEX) page to see how
people around the world plan to celebrate this day.
If you live in our region, we hope you will celebrate
this day by joining us at Rolling
Thunder in Asheville, NC!

nonprofit organizations on May 16 at Jubilee!
