Link of the Week: March 18 - 24
IRE Resource Center
This past weekend I joined over 250 journalists from around the globe who attended
the Computer-Assisted Reporting Conference in Charlotte. The conference, put
on by IRE (Investigative Reporters and Editors),
featured dozens of helpful classes and forums. I wish that every journalist
in the region could have been there, but IREs Resource
Center on its website is the next best thing. In particular, note the tipsheets.
There are detailed tutorials on how to analyze municipal and other data using
Excel and Access. Also among my favorite classes last weekend: how to do backgrounders
on individuals and businesses.
