Presidential Elections Online
Are you voting for Diane Templin for US President in 2004? How
about Michael Peroutka? If you havent heard of these candidates, you may
want to get some of your 2004 Elections news from the Internet. You simply cant
rival the Web when it comes to depth and breadth of election coverage. Here
is a smattering of interesting and informative ones.
The 2004 US Presidential Election:
A View from the Web is an analysis of the sites operated by Democratic and
Republican candidates by researchers affiliated with WebArchivist.org at the
University of Washington and SUNY Institute of Technology. The site makes it
easy to jump to key pages of sites operated by the candidates, and to compare
one candidates Web presence to anothers.
Ron Gunzburgers politics1.com
site bills itself as The Most Comprehensive Online Guide to American
Politics. It just may be. He says that if they're running for President
in 2004 (or even thinking about running), you can find them ALL here,
and indeed he does have dozens of present and former candidates listed.
Project Vote Smart
is a more information-oriented site, with links to candidate voting records,
dates of state primaries and plenty more. They also have quick links to the
most extensive list of political parties Ive seen, including the National
Barking Spider Resurgence Party and the Veterans Industrial party.
Leave it to the US Census site to provide a
statistical guide to election coverage and recent election trends. For example,
you can view recent voter turnout nationally and at the state level.
And, if your voter registration information is not up to date, you can get information
on how to register at most or all of the above sites!
