Register to Become an Archive User

You can register your media organization for FIRE's free* online archive service by completing our online form. Soon after you submit the form, you will be sent a password that enables you to post your organization's features and news stories to the archive. Then, you (and anyone else) can easily search for this information using a keyword search. You can limit your search to your own organization's files, or you can see what has been posted by other media near your town! Your organization's text results link back to your own Web site, and a media profile you create educates FIRE visitors about your organization.

Your organization is not under any obligation if it registers for the archive. However, FIRE asks that archive users update their records on a regular basis. This usually takes an average of ten minutes or less per week—or just one day per year! That's a small commitment, when you consider how much time your staff and readers will save searching for that information. FIRE staff is available to help with the archiving process if necessary, but it is very easy, even for people who don't use computers very often.

*The small print: while there is never a mandatory charge for using the archive, we are a non-profit organization. Therefore, we occasionally ask satisfied archiving organizations to make a reasonable contribution to FIRE.
